The 500 block of West Chew Avenue will be transformed into the 6th annual Olney Youth Arts Festival, a multicultural celebration of youth creativity with a distinct focus on dance and movement. The event is designed to highlight different ethnic expressions towards cross-cultural awareness and to demonstrate a strength-in-numbers for groups offering arts programs to underserved youth.
The organizers of the Festival aim to bring collective attention to the numerous formal and informal groups engaging our youth. The vast array of dance featured will include: breaking, hip hop, salsa, capoeira, ballet, modern, praise, among others. The Festival will also feature several guest youth poets including City of Philadelphia’s Youth Poet Laureate, Wes Matthews, and youth instrumental groups.
