Dan Tang is the owner of Tang Pharmacy, which is located at 5925 N. 5th Street. Tang Pharmacy serves the community as a place for people to fulfill their prescriptions, buy medicine, and they offer a delivery service for those who aren’t able to come in to pick up their prescriptions.

Dan was always strong in math and science but had no interest in attending medical school for such a long time. That, combined with his innate desire to help others drove him into the pharmacy business. After completing his studies, he worked for an independent pharmacy for 5 years. He found it fascinating how the community relationships developed over time; a dynamic you would not find in a large, chain pharmacy. In 2006 he launched his own pharmacy to create a business that provided a community feel and sense of home for the Olney residents.

The business tip that he would share with newcomers is to focus on continuous growth, improvement, and to keep moving. He encourages other business owners to invest in the youth of the community since they are our future and to always help others during your journey.

Tang Pharmacy helps the North 5th Street corridor by donating to holiday events for the kids, supporting our Olney Youth Advisory Council, and helping the N5SRP team connect with other Korean-speaking business owners. Dan loves Olney and the North 5th community because it is a melting pot. “Diversity is the strength of the community and you run into a lot of good people regardless of gender or race.”
